Mandatory Earthquake Insurance

Earthquakes are the most dramatic of the natural disasters that have struck Turkey with increasing frequency in recent years. Their impact affects not just those living in the afflicted region but also the entire nation and all its citizens. The cost of repairing the damage and helping the effected region to return to normal, as well as providing emergency and rescue services, places a major strain on the national budget.

With Mandatoty Eartquake Insurance, losses caused by fire, explosion and land slide stemming from the earthquake is covered by the Institute of Naturel Disasters. (Losses from the damage in steps, elevators, roof and chimneys is included in the coverage.)

Buildings set outside the coverage:

• Buildings owned by the public institutions.
  
• Buildings in rural areas.
  
• Buildings which only used for commercial purposes.
  
• Buildings built after the date 27 December 1999 but does not have the appropriate license required by the governmental authorities.
